Blessings Dinner

On Saturday evening, March 6, we are looking forward to a church-wide dinner. It is an annual gathering for our church – a time to celebrate God’s goodness and provision in our lives.

Every year, Denair Friends Church selects a project that takes us above and beyond our local needs. We come together with a sense of gratitude, ready to share what we have to meet challenges that get us outside ourselves.

This year, we have selected a worthy and ambitious project. Matt and Lois Kuffel have been serving in Cambodia since 2003. Their ministry was launched from our sister church, Citrus Heights Friends. Their ministry focus includes evangelism, discipleship, leadership development and church planting. Until recently, they lived in Phnom Penh and worked with the Phnom Penh Friends Church. They are currently stationed in the smaller town of Kampot helping to rebuild a smaller church. Their work in the countryside puts them on rough, unmaintained roads. Several of our people have visited and worked with the Kuffels in Cambodia. They are choice servants.

The Kuffels need a reliable car. The Southwest District (EFC) has made a committment to raise the money to purchase a suitable automobile for this fine missionary family. We want to make a substantial contribution to meet that goal.

So Saturday night will be a celebration. In years past, it has been linked to our fall Thanksgiving season, when we looked to the past with thanks for God’s gift of abundance at harvest time.  This year, as we launch a new decade, we look forward to what God has in store for the future. We believe it is bright.  We’ll share our hopes and dreams, and bring our gifts to fund a special project.  It will be a tangible expression of our gratitude.

So we call it a “Blessings Dinner.” Blessings in abundance. Even in these difficult days of economic challenges, we are grateful. As blessings have flowed all over us, we want it to spill over on others. Let’s help put the Kuffels behind the wheel.

Come celebrate with us!  The dinner begins at 6:00 p.m. We hope you will plan to join us. Please call 668-7151 to confirm.
