Mother’s Day Celebration a Success!

On Saturday, May 1 our auditorium was filled with beautifully decorated tables, flowers and candles. with friends and family, and with the aroma of wonderful food.

There was excitement in the air as approximately 80 women and young girls gathered to celebrate their mothers, grandmothers, their spiritual mothers and the role God has for them as women.

We were treated to a delicious brunch of quiche, fruit salads, assorted breads, assorted pastries, teas, coffee and punch.

We had special music performed by Clara Pumphrey and her sister Mary Woodward. Our Jr. High/High School group performed a fun song for the group. We had special readings titled; “What Kids Say”, “The Dress”, and “God Knew”. We watched the always funny video clip from Anita Renfrow titled “Momsense” which is a compilation of all the different things a mom says to her children during the course of a day to the tune of the William Tell Overture.  If you missed it, CLICK.

We were so blessed to have as our special speaker Cheryl Birch of Cheryl Birch Ministries of Modesto, CA. Cheryl provided just the right message for our group. She spoke of not letting the embarrassing or hurtful things of life to take over our lives and become more important to us than God is. She spoke of letting go and forgiving. You can find out more about Cheryl Birch and her ministries at

We ended the program with recognition of the youngest and oldest mothers and grandmothers in attendance as well as door prizes going to the lady who travelled the furthest to get to our event (Sacramento) and to the lady in attendance who had great-grandchildren.

We are hoping that this can become an annual event. If you didn’t make it Saturday, look for it next year!
