Back from Israel

Carolyn and I have returned from an amazing journey.  It was our privilege to co-host a History on the Move tour with about thirty other travelers.  We were on the road for nearly three weeks, visiting France (Paris), Egypt, Israel and Germany.

There were many highlights.  Our trip began with bonus three days in Paris (our first visit).  We scrambled around the city, touring the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, the River Seign, the Louvre and the Champs Elysees.  In Egypt, we visited the Pyramids and Sphinx in Giza, on the the Cairo Museum then flew to Luxor for the incredible Karnak Temple, then back to Alexandria on the Mediterranean and the Bibliotheca Alexandrina.    Our bus followed the Exodus into the Sinai Peninsula up to St. Catherine’s Cathedral where Carolyn and I climbed Mt. Sinai, taking in the sunrise from the summit.  Then on to Israel – Masada, Qumran, Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Nazareth and the Galilee.  Then from Tel Aviv, we flew to Germany to finish with a Reformation Tour following Martin Luther from Berlin to Wittenberg to Wartberg.  Whew!  And these are just some of the highlights. Mainly, our understanding and perspective on a faithful God through history was expanded beyond comprehension.

We’re back now, looking forward to what remains here in Denair/Turlock for the rest of the summer.  Let’s sit down over a cup of coffee and I’ll tell you more.
