July 4th at DFC

We believe in the presence of God.  We gather because we need to be reminded.  All that is required is an open heart.

This Sunday, as a nation, we celebrate our independence.  July 4, 1776, the United States officially declared her independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain.  It came at a cost.  We value our freedoms.  Many have sacrificed their lives to secure that freedom.  We are deeply grateful.

Perhaps the greatest of all the freedoms guaranteed by our Constitution is the freedom to sit in our church meeting place and freely welcome the presence of our God.  Jesus came to set the captive free.  We were captives, until he came into our lives with the message of forgiveness, redemption, hope and love.

Join us.  We’ll take time to contemplate the wonder of freedom.  Welcome that presence.  Ask for a word of instruction, encouragement and direction.

And once again affirm it: we’ll trust him.

We’ll be studying Philippians 3:1-11: “No Confidence in the Resumé”
