This Sunday at DFC: Psalm 24 – The Open Door

Doorways make a statement. They protect. They also welcome. Some entrances have elaborate electronic sensors to alert a resident to unwelcome visitors. Signs may be posted: Keep Out. Beware of Dog. No Trespassing.

Other entrances say Welcome. A fountain flows. A garden is well tended. A chime rings with the press of a button. At the sound, the door opens. There is a warm smile and a cheery greeting. “C’mon in!”

There is both an invitation and a response. An open door and a gesture toward the inside make up the invitation of welcome. But you must respond. “Thank you” is the appropriate reply. And then you step inside.

On Sunday morning, like every morning, God opens the door and welcomes you by name.

The next step is yours.
