This week at DFC – Letting Go

NOTE:  While your email referred to a Saturday night gathering, there is none.  Sorry for the confusion!

This week: Luke 15 – The Lost Son.

The universal goal of parenthood is for healthy, self-reliant, industrious, competent, centered, ambitious children to separate from the security home and make a prosperous life with independence, success and joy.  It is a worthy goal.  It generally comes with difficulty.

For some, it happens as naturally as a flower in bloom.  For most, there are periods of conflict, turmoil, high risk, costly mistakes, accidents, misfires and unintended consequences.  Parenting is no place for the faint of heart.  Jesus told the story of a lost son.  “The Prodigal” remains one of the most powerful parables of them all.

You may come this morning as a son or daughter who was once lost – but now you are found.  You may have a child who even now, appears lost.  Perhaps you have yet to be found.  You are lost.  To this very day.

God the Father waits.  He wants us to come to our senses.  He patiently watches, looking for us to come home.
