This week at DFC: My Neighbor and Me

Perhaps the primary reason we isolate ourselves from a needy world is simply this: it’s all overwhelming.  Too much.  Hunger?  Disease?  Overpopulation?  Ignorance?  War?  Ethnic animosities?  Religious fanaticism?  Crime?  Cruelty?  Depression?  Global climate change?  Violence?  Abuse?  Pollution?  Rampant immorality?  Governmental incompetence?

Why even start?

Where is it all going?  And where am I going?  In a universe in perpetual crisis we ask, “How do I inherit eternal life?”  We ask the same question posed to Jesus two thousand years ago.

Jesus has the answer.  It cuts through all the complicated formulas and all the grand solutions proposed by some of our most intelligent, creative thinkers.  He turns our attention to our neighbor.  He teaches us to live.

Join us on Sunday.  We’ll explore the parable of the Good Samaritan.  Prepare.  Read Luke 10:25-37.

See you there!
